Holy Cross Football Signs Big Time Local Recruit Sean Thompson

I am thrilled to inform the entire Holy Cross Football family of the recent signing of a "big time" local recruit.

Sean Thompson is a truly special kid from North Grafton, MA. To read more about his "signing" up with the Crusaders, please read, save and share the following release put forth by our friends at Team Impact. . . . with a little poetic license for added effect taken by yours truly.

Subject: Team IMPACT: Sean Thompson & Holy Cross Football!
17 October 2012

Good Morning!

We welcome the Thompson family, especially Sean, and the Holy Cross Football team to Team IMPACT!  This email is going to Sean and his parents, Elaine and Andrew, along with head coach Tom Gilmore, assistant coach, Andy Rondeau and team advocates, Matt Bhaya, Phillip Gough, Ryan Schnieber, Michael Shewchuck, and Tyler Zeoli.  Thank you all for your commitment to each other and our program.

We know the Crusader team is very excited with the succesful recruiting and signing of Sean and bringing him into the fold. We look forward to getting Sean to campus to meet his new teammates and football-brothers as soon as possible!

What do we know about Sean?

He is a special young man. Sean is a 13-year-old from North Grafton, MA and is thrilled to become the newest Crusader to join the roster.  In November 2009, Sean was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the most common form of leukemia found in children.

While months of treatment have been taxing on Sean physically, he is now doing better and is slated to finish treatment in March 2013.  He has a daily dose of oral chemo and goes to the clinic at UMass Memorial one time each month to have his chemo administered through a port that delivers the chemo directly in to his blood stream.

With the support of his new teammates he will be given the boost he needs to continue his treatment schedule in hopes that soon he will be fully in remission!

According to Sean, his favorite numbers are 28 and 9 and his favorite food is pizza.  He lists 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem as his favorite song and Sports Center as his favorite TV show.  He loves to play basketball, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is his favorite athlete, and the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings, the Georgia Bulldogs and now the Holy Cross Crusaders are his favorite football teams.

His favorite color is purple which means he should have no trouble fitting in with his purple and white clad football teammates.  He is excited to join the team and looks forward to meeting all of his new teammates and coaches!

Sean's folks are on this distribution, so please join me in welcoming them, Sean, and the entire Thompson family into our Holy Cross Football family.

Major props to Chuck Doyle, the special people at Team Impact and the entire Holy Cross Football team for making this happen.

Let's Win for Sean!!
