Fellow Crusaders,
Upon exiting the stadium last evening after Holy Cross' outstanding all around victory (52-21 over CCSU), I learned that Holy Cross had racked up over 500 yards of total offense with 419 of them via the rushing game.
Shortly after learning that, I overheard a die hard member of the Loyal Order of Purple Brotherhood -- and likely a History major at the Cross -- state "the only apt comparison to the Crusader ground game this evening is "Sherman's March to the Sea."
Got to love that Holy Cross crowd. A victory on the field and a quick historical perspective provided by a Purple brother off it.
Congratulations to Coach Gilmore, staff, and team for an outstanding performance last evening. Here are a few items for further review: a recap of the game and game stats.
Additionally, always great to hear immediate post game remarks, especially when victorious, from Coach Gilmore.
With the team having posted this all important first W of the season, -- and following up on the theme of historical perspectives -- next Saturday, the team, the college, and all those who love the Crusaders now have a chance to put a huge stamp of victory on a historical first, that is, Holy Cross' first ever Saturday night football game. Yep, that's right.
Let's make sure we give our Crusaders a HUGE home field advantage and turn out en masse and rock the house next Saturday evening for the 6pm kickoff vs Monmouth. Our opponent is coming off a 3 point loss against Lehigh so you know they will want to spoil the party.
We will have the annual Ring of Honor induction festivities prior to kickoff as Dave Quehl '76, Tom Greene '59, and John Turco '52 take their place among the Holy Cross Crusader football greats when their names are unveiled at Fitton Field . . . for perpetuity!! Truly special stuff, indeed.
So let's set the stage, classic late afternoon/early evening fall setting on the most beautiful college campus in the nation . . . honoring greats going back 60 years . . . college football played by a school, as CBS analyst Aaron Taylor defined HC, "doing it the right way."
Don't miss it. Recruit friends, family, classmates, teammates, and colleagues.
Let's Fill Fitton Field . . . why?
We all get to relive a bit of our past while supporting our team and school as they boldly pursue victory on and off the field.
Why else should everybody be at Fitton Field next Saturday night? Here's why . .TURN UP YOUR VOLUME .. . because . . . there is no doubt that . . .
Saturday Night's All Right.
Saturday Night's All Right.
Post game victory beers on me.
LET's WIN!!
